Garner advances to John Wall Holiday Tournament finals on Burt historic night

Trojans advance to The John Wall Holiday Tournament title game with 92-67 win over Christ School. Senior KD Burt records his 1,000th career point in Trojan uniform. Garner (9-1) raced to 28-19 lead behind Trayvon Ferrell eleven 1st quarter points. The good guys never trail the Arden school in front of a packed Broughton Holliday Gym crowd. Ferrell paces the Trojans with 27 points, with 5-of-9 from the arc. Demetric Horton heats up just before the half to finish with 21, Burt adds 11, Marque Maultsby 13 with 4 steals and Jaren Ellerbee scores 12 with some outstanding defense. The five double-digit scorers is the 8th game this season Coach Eddie Gray's squad has +4 players in double figures. Garner shoots 54% for the night, including 59% in the second half to blow the game open. Garner enjoys 29-26 rebound edge and forces 21 Greenie turnovers. Each Trojan player gets playing time as a sizable lead allows Garner to prepare for Saturday finals rematch vs Greenfield School in the Tourney Championship. Garner downed Greenfield 94-76 earlier this season at the Millbrook Showcase. Tip time for the title game is 7PM, Dec. 30th

Burt is the 13th Garner player to reach 1,000 points and 4th straight year a Trojan player has reached the rare feat. Burt's 97th career varsity game is 4th all-time in Garner history.
