Alston BIG night leads JV Trojans in season opener

DJ Alston rushes for 266 yards and 4 TD’s to lead Garner JV 33-30 over Cleveland in their season opener at S.Garner Field. Jackson Mitchell interception with 25 seconds left and the JV Rams driving seals the win for Garner. Alston scores of touchdown runs of 53, 60, 26 & 51 yards on the night. Aundre Henry adds 4 yard TD run. Behind Alston big night, the JV Trojans roll up 307 yards rushing. Tyler Peacock has two of the Trojans six sacks, part of his 5 stops on the night. Joshua Nikolich leads the defense with 7 tackles, including two for loss. Garner returns to play Wednesday night at former conference foe SE Raleigh, 6:30PM kickoff.

Volleyball wins in 5-sets at Clayton
Coach Boyette’s Lady Trojans take their non-conference match at Clayton 25-18, 23-25, 17-25, 25-23 & 16-14. Grace Pulido leads Garner with 15 kills, Sanaa Lanier adds 13 with 4 blocks and team-high 6 aces. Shaylynn Hall posts 5 blocks with her 8 kills & Cassidy Hinnant has 4 blocks. Regan Adamshas 30 digs and Madeline Fousheematch-high 43 assists. They improve to 3-2 for the year. JV Trojans fall at Clayton in three sets. Our Trojans return to play Saturday 10AM at the Trojan Invitational hosted by Harnett Central.

Cross-country opens their season
Jacobi Asor-Sallaah runs 9:37.50 to lead Garner Trojans cross-country in their opener, good for 2nd in the meet. Ashton Olmstead 10:19.70 for 15th; Abbie Brand leads Lady Trojans with 13:16.70 on the 3K track, Abby Durbalruns 13:35.20. COMPLETE results
