JV Trojans blast Middle Creek to finish 9-1

Andrew Vines 85-yard interception return ends JV Mustang drive to open the second half and turn the game for Garner in 28-13 SWAC win. Coach Ronnie Lee's JV squad completes the year 9-1 and runner-up in the conference. Darius Boone 16-yard reverse and Daveon Dunn 2 point throw to Tom Horton put the good guys up at halftime 8-7. Vines critical play after Middle Creek uses six Garner penalties to open the second half to drive to the Trojan 15.  Vines pick and dash gives Garner 14-7 lead. The Creek comes up empty again in the red zone on their second drive inside the Garner 20 in half two. After the Garner defense stops them on 4th & 8 at the 16,  Dunn hits Boone on an outstanding catch and he dashes 84-yards for the score. Aundre Henry 2pt conversion for 22-7 lead at 5:16 of the 3rd. Horton hauls in Dunn pass for 2-yard TD to pull away in the regular season finale. DJ Alston records 121 yards rushing, his 10th +100 yard performance of the season to finish the year with 1,566 yards. For the 18th time in 19 seasons, the Garner JV program finishes 1 or 2 in conference play with 16 titles.
