McLean record night leads Trojans to Homecoming win

Nolan McLean throws for school record 342 yards and 5 TDs to lead Garner to 42-6 win over Holly Springs on Homecoming 2017. Justin Lewis 36-yard TD catch from McLean at 9:58 of 1st. Eli Bondurant PAT for 7-0 lead. Daiveon Carrington 17-yard TD run and 27-yard TD catch from McLean 3 minutes later for 21-0 lead in the opening quarter. After Malik Stephens fumble recovery (part of his 3 takeaways tonight) Ralph Vieux hauls in 39-yard TD and Jon-Anthony Johnson 29-yard TD catch gives the good guys 35-0 halftime lead. McLean second TD to Vieux at 9:43 left completes the scoring in Garner's 37th consecutive Homecoming win. NaDarius Thompson leads the Trojan defense that forced 9 consecutive incompletions at one point with his 4 hurries. Garner records sub-.500 passing by their opposing QB for the 4th straight game & allowing 100 yards only on the last Hawks drive against backups. The Trojans improve to 2-0 in the SWAC headed to Fuquay next Friday night,

McLean 342 yards breaks the Garner single game passing record set by Brighton Hudson (326 vs Broughton 9/6/13) & ties B.G. Howell 5 passing TDs in a game (vs Riverside 9/5/2008). His first half total of 308 also breaks Howell record of 291 yards.
