DJ Alston rushes for 149 yards and TD, with 37 yards receiving, TD catch and scores on blocked punt for Garner JV in 33-32 loss to Fuquay in SWAC action. The JV Bengals drive for the winning TD with 1:03 to go for the win in the matchup of conference unbeatens. Alston blocks Fuquay punt and recovers in the end zone with 6:31 left to give the Trojans 32-27 lead. He scored on 64- and 46-yard runs as well.
Daveon Dunn throwing for 173 yards total, hooked up with
Tom Horton for 52 yards and 21 yards touchdowns,. Garner defense gives up 128 yards rushing in the first quarter to trail 12-0 early but keep the Bengals without completion until three minutes left in the first half. Fuquay 217 yards rushing & 3TDs in the first half is nearly double allowed by the Trojans in any game this season as they trail 19-12. After Dunn second strike to Horton, they trail only 19-18. Horton piles up 109 yards to go with two scoring catches. As indicated by the score, both offenses move the ball at will, with 711 combined total yards. Alston reaches 1,241 yards rushing for the season with 19 total TDs. The JV Trojans (7-1) 10-game win streak ends as they are out-rushed for the first time this season. But they remain in the SWAC hunt at 2-1 host Apex next Thursday
